Amos Green is being added to our organization’s list of cases to report for a few reasons. First, it was reported that there was a threat made that citizens were going to lynch him. This places him in the “near-lynching” category. Second, the extensive documentation that exists regarding the legal case against Amos makes it a great barometer to use when examining the history of the other men of our inquiry. Finally, an unexpected element was discovered when researching Amos that is associated with the county’s last documented lynching victim, Jacob Henson, Jr.
